After graduating from Oregon Institute of Technology with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, I was seeking a position that would be fast paced, and at the same time would challenge my problem solving skills. That is why I chose employment with JELD-WEN in June of 2000.
For the first six months, I was given the opportunity to become knowledgeable at each position in our plant. I am now responsible for leading and motivating fifteen employees to work safely and efficiently. This has been a rewarding and challenging experience.
My superiors and peers have been supportive and encouraging throughout my experience. Working with JELD-WEN has given me the opportunity to grow as an individual, while being part of a successful team. I am looking forward to a long career with JELD-WEN.
Leah McLane, Group Manager
JELD-WEN Wood Fiber Division-Washington
In the fall of 1994, I was promoted to the position of Coordinating Group Manager. At that point, I had the responsibility for four Group Managers and 80 hourly employees. In 1996, I was promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager in which I retained most of the same responsibilities while also spending time learning how to become a General Manager. After one year of training, I was chosen to become the General Manager of the entire operation, which includes 180 employees. I was next promoted to Vice-President of Stile & Rail Doors.
JELD-WEN provides more opportunity for advancement than any other company I've seen. Joining the JELD-WEN family has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Chad Turner, Vice President
JELD-WEN Premium Doors
After graduating from Oregon State University in 1992, I became a Management Trainee at JELD-WEN Interior Doors-Vancouver. Six months into the program, I was promoted to Group Manager where I was given responsibility for one of the functional areas of the plant, managing a team of 20 people. In 1993, I was promoted to Production Manager, with the responsibility of coordinating the production on two shifts.
In 1995, I accepted a transfer to JELD-WEN Interior Doors -Rocklin CA as the Production Manager. The Division was rapidly expanding, and in 1996 I was promoted to Assistant General Manager, followed by a promotion to General Manager in 1997. The Interior Door Division had grown to include 11 plants and in 1999 I was promoted to Coordinating General Manager, where I was responsible for 4 plants in the West. My promotion to Vice President on January 1, 2001 sent me to France where I managed our French group of companies. While in France, I also worked extensively in England, Poland, and Romania. In 2005 I transferred back to the company headquarters in Klamath Falls Oregon, and am currently leading several strategic projects for the Door Group. I joined JELD-WEN because I had the desire to work in a fast-moving, growth-oriented company. I have stayed with JELD-WEN because it has proven to be just that, and much more.
